Is it just to make it easier and quicker to swing? What’s the point in having a lighter club in general (even graphite)? Any drawbacks? Is it hard to adjust to a “normal weight” irons after using a light weight metal?
Before answering my question let me explain what type of golfer I am and my style of play. I am a 20 year old, 6 foot male with a handicap of about 25. My biggest weakness is my inability to hit with a driver (currently using a Taylormade r5 that I won in a raffle); actually I struggle from the tee pretty much 80% of the time, even if I am not using a driver. However, I excel at 50-30 yards from the pin and often save bogey or double bogey on a hole due to my ability to chip and putt. I will go in more detail about each aspect of my game to help you guys give my accurate advice. As a side note, I am currently using a set of Wilson 1200 GE irons from the 80′s. Needless to say I think it’s time for an upgrade.
Like I said I excel from 50-30 yards out. I may be a 25 handicapper, but I most certainly chip like a single digit handicapper and putt like a bogey golfer. I usually two putt my way to the hole unless I chipped it in or I am close enough to tap in. I am in no Read More---->
